What It Does #
Test Chatbot lets you try your chatbot before going live. You see a preview of the chat widget and can send messages to test how the AI responds, how product recommendations or other apps (e.g. Order Tracker, Coupon Delivery) behave, and whether your knowledge base and settings are working as expected. Test conversations do not affect live analytics.
Requirements #
- Helpmate — An API key and a knowledge base should be set up. Test Chatbot is available on the free tier.
Where to Configure #
Go to Helpmate → Automations → Test Chatbot. The page shows informational content about Helpmate apps and a test chat area (with launcher) so you can interact with the bot.
How to Use #
- Open the Test Chatbot page.
- Use the test chat panel or launcher to send messages as a customer would.
- Verify responses, product recommendations, order tracking, coupons, or other enabled features.
- Adjust your knowledge base, Behavior, Appearance, or other settings as needed and test again.
Test chats are for validation only; they do not create real tickets, orders, or contacts unless you have integrated those flows in your test environment.
