Proactive Sales

What It Does #

Proactive Sales makes the chatbot automatically show a popup with discounted product offers to visitors after a delay. It starts conversations before the visitor messages, which can boost conversion and average order value. The popup shows one product at a time (chosen randomly from the products you add), and the visitor can open the chat or close the popup.

Requirements #

  • Helpmate Pro — Proactive Sales is a Pro feature. Activate a Pro API key and the Helpmate Pro plugin.
  • WooCommerce — Must be installed and active. Products come from your WooCommerce catalog (discounted products).
  • Chatbot — The AI chatbot must be set up (API key and knowledge base). The proactive popup appears near the chat widget and opens the chat when clicked.

Turn On Proactive Sales #

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Helpmate → Automation → Marketing → Proactive Sales
  2. Use the Enable Module switch at the top to turn the feature on.
  3. Add products in the Products tab and set timing/template in the Settings tab (see below).

Proactive Sales only runs when the module is enabled and at least one product is added. If both conditions are met, the popup appears after the configured delay when the visitor is on the page.

Products Tab #

You choose which discounted products can be shown in the proactive popup.

  • Discounted Products — Lists WooCommerce products that have a sale price or discount. Each row shows image, name, regular price, sale price, discount percentage, and stock status. Use Add to save a product for Proactive Sales.
  • Saved for Proactive Sales — Lists products you’ve added. Use Remove to stop a product from appearing. Only products in this list can be shown in the popup. If you add more than one, the popup picks one randomly.

You can search in both tables to find products quickly.

Settings Tab #

Show Frequency

How long the visitor stays on the page before the popup appears. Options include:

  • 5 Seconds, 10 Seconds, 30 Seconds
  • 1 Minute, 2 Minutes, 5 Minutes, 15 Minutes, 30 Minutes, 1 Hour

Choose based on how fast you want to show offers vs. giving the visitor time to browse first.

Template

Three popup layouts:

  • Template 1 — Default layout with product image and details.
  • Template 2 — Compact layout.
  • Template 3 — More detailed layout.

Select by clicking the template preview in the Settings tab. The popup uses the selected layout to show the product and an action (e.g. open chat).

How It Works for the Visitor #

  1. Visitor lands on a page where the chat widget is shown.
  2. After the configured delay (e.g. 10 seconds), a proactive sales popup appears near the chat icon (typically bottom-right) with a discounted product.
  3. The visitor can open the chat (e.g. by clicking a button) or close the popup. If they open the chat, the conversation starts.
  4. If you added multiple products, each popup shows one product chosen at random.

The popup does not show when the chat is already open. It also respects session/visibility so it does not repeatedly intrude.
