What It Does #
Custom Fields let you define extra fields for contacts and tasks so you can capture and organize data your way. You choose the field type (text, number, date, dropdown, etc.), set whether it’s required, and optionally provide options for dropdown, radio, and multi-select. Contact custom fields appear on contact records; task custom fields extend task data. Custom Fields is a Pro feature.
Requirements #
- Helpmate Pro — Custom Fields is a Pro feature. Activate a Pro API key to add and manage custom fields.
- CRM — Used for contacts and tasks; no extra plugins required.
Where to Configure #
Go to Helpmate → CRM → Custom Fields. Use the Contact and Task tabs to manage fields for each entity type.
Add or Edit a Custom Field #
- Click Add Custom Field (or edit an existing row).
- Set Field Label (e.g. Company Name).
- Choose Field Type (see list below).
- For dropdown, radio, or multi_select: enter Options (one per line).
- Check Required field if the field must be filled.
- Set Display Order (number) to control order on forms.
- Click Create or Update.
Field Types #
- text — Single-line text
- number — Numeric value
- date — Date picker
- textarea — Multi-line text
- dropdown — Single choice from options (one per line)
- checkbox — Yes/No
- radio — Single choice from options
- email — Email address
- url — URL
- phone — Phone number
- file — File upload
- multi_select — Multiple choices from options
- rich_text — Rich text content
Default task fields (e.g. priority, status, task_type) can be edited but not deleted.
